The younger members'
section of the Institution of Electrical Engineers was formed to
encourage the activities of the younger members. The IEE Sri Lanka
initiated a younger members’ section for the younger members
of the Sri Lanka in 1999. |

| |
On 31st March 2006, IEE merged with IIE( Institution of Incorporated Engineers) and formed IET(Institution of Engineering and Technology). |

Electrical Engineering,
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering undergraduates and
rescently passed out graduates from Sri Lanka . University of Moratuwa,
University of Peradeniya, University of Ruhuna and Open University
of Sri Lanka give their contribution to the activities of the IET
YMS Sri Lanka. |

The session starts
at the beginning of October each year and it ends in the end of
the September following year in parallel with the main committee
[the IEE Sri Lanka] session. Many activities are done in this session
and most of the student members form the four universities and the
younger members from the industry give their contribution to them.
